We arrived in London bright and early, and upon emerging from our first successful metro venture of the trip, we stumbled upon the Festival of Love! Surrounded by bright neon colors and grand-scale artistic creations, we walked around to find the slides entitled “Family,” representing the ups and downs that family members go through and come out together at the end, a tunnel of love, and loads of cute pop-up beer gardens, food trucks, and exhibitions.
Already feeling like an insider in a foreign city by finding this short-term, pop-up local festival, we began to head in the other direction, seeking out the monuments that define London to the world. We marveled at the London Eye, (I will definitely come back and go on it!), were surprised by how little Big Ben actually was, and found Buckingham Palace. After a long day of traveling and exploring, walking down to the London Bridge, Tower Bridge, and more, we ended the night with some pizza and wine and went to sleep eagerly awaiting our arrival in Paris the next day.
