Paris was a breath of fresh air. I approached the city with nervous excitement, as I was about to look the next year of my life in this beautiful, foreign city. As soon as we stepped off the train, Erin’s friend who lives there very kindly met us at the train station (we took the Eurostar under the English chunnel) and popping us into a cab headed for the Le Marais area of Paris in the 3rd Arrondissment.
The moment we stepped out of the cab, I breathed a sigh of happy relief. The streets were bustling with life, pedestrians, and beaming “SOLDES” (sales) signs, welcoming me to this amazing place that I had been so drawn to two years before. We were welcomed into a beautiful apartment and were comforted, knowing that we were safe, happy, and able to unpack a bit during our four day stay.
Our neighborhood kept its lively buzz as the sun went down, and we walked to a recommended restaurant that served the best chocolate mousse I’ve ever had. Well-fed and excited to explore the next day, we had a wonderful first day in Paris.
